Years of experience in the HVAC industry
Why Should You Choose Tyler
Since 2016, I’ve proudly served the South-East Wisconsin community in the HVAC industry. My journey began as a Maintenance Technician and, through hard work and determination, I advanced to positions like Service Technician, Senior Service Technician, Service Manager, and finally, Operations Director. After eight years of climbing the ladder and mastering my craft, I decided to take the leap and start my own business, Tyler Epp Heating & Cooling.
In today’s HVAC market, two major challenges stand out: the high overhead costs of larger companies and the scarcity of skilled technicians who prioritize both exceptional service and technical expertise. These issues often lead to inflated prices for customers and inconsistent service quality.
Why should you pay a premium for a big company and only hope for a great technician? With my independent business, I eliminate the hefty overhead costs that bigger companies endure, allowing me to offer competitive pricing without compromising on quality. Being my own boss gives gives me a renewed purpose in life by allowing me to have a creative platform to share good with the world, and also ensures that you receive top-notch service at a fair price every time. It’s a win-win!

Other information regarding service offerings
Commercial work: I may be open to some commercial jobs depending on ease of access to the roof, quantity and type of units, and our business relationship.
Installation work: As far as all installation work goes, I do not provide installation work myself. However, I am the perfect person to inspect your system first, to give you an honest oversight and see if an install is even necessary. If determined that an installation would be the next best step, I have many contacts in the HVAC industry to get you a free estimate. I only sub-contract to companies that are small businesses like my self, and that I have personally done work alongside with for many years. This helps to ensure your installation quality and retain a price that is below the industry average!

My Pricing
Any Diagnostic
$90.00 + tax, but the labor rate starts after the initial 30 minutes.
Most Diagnostics will be figured out in 20 minutes or less unless there are substantial electrical issues or significant disassembly of HVAC equipment required
Any Tune-Up
$100.00 + tax
If you find a company that offers maintenance for under $100, I urge you to open the equipment afterwards and see if they even cleaned the inside. This will speak on their quality
Labor Rate
$160.00 + tax per hour
Labor rates are typically charged alongside part replacements or advanced diagnostics where significant disassembly of HVAC equipment is required
Other information regarding pricing
-Emergency Rates (Evening or Weekend visits): I don’t charge anything extra!!! Good luck finding a company that offers that 🙂
-Price Undercutting: In most cases, I can beat competitor’s quotes for labor or part replacements. Feel free to share them with me. If you agree to go with me instead, I will first come out to perform a diagnostic to ensure the original diagnosis was correct before I order the needed parts. If the diagnosis is correct, I will not charge a diagnostic fee for the visit. If I find the diagnosis was incorrect, then I will charge a diagnostic fee, provide you with the proper diagnosis, and provide you a new quote. You can also have a nice copy of my technical notes to provide to the previous company in an attempt to get a refund if they have integrity.
-Free over-the-phone consultations: I am a book of knowledge and it’s always free to bounce potential diagnostics or HVAC related questions off of me!
-Price negotiation: If you are down on your luck, or are in need if financial assistance due to a recent life altering event, I may be open to trying to help you with pricing. But you would have to tell me a compelling story as to why I should be giving you help. Doesn’t hurt to ask!
-Home Warranty Work Disclaimer: For any home warranty companies, the prices stated on my website will not apply. All pricing will be higher in order to be closer to the current industry averages.

READER WARNING: If you decide to read my bio, please do me the favor of reading all of it! I understand my life experiences may dissuade some customers from ever calling me for business, but I am here to assure you that if you are one of those, you will be doing us both a favor. Life can be tough, but I am here to share my truth!
I was born on November 16, 1994, in Evanston, IL, and raised by my mother and half-sister in Antioch, IL. During my early years, we cherished outdoor activities such as beach visits, rollerblading, and biking.
At around age 6, my mother succumbed to cervical cancer. My paternal grandparents took me in, and shortly after, my father, injured during a construction job and needing care, also joined us. We settled in Northbrook, IL, where my grandparents had spent most of their lives as owners of “Tom & Rich’s Barbershop” and “Astilbe Antiques”.
My Father was bedridden for the next 5 years and underwent a total of 43 surgeries in an attempt to recover his leg instead of amputation. Around age 11, my father regained mobility but battled severe opiate addiction due to the previous numerous surgeries. Despite a year of rehabilitation in Georgia, he relapsed upon returning home and later suffered a fatal heart attack.
Overcoming Adversity and Finding Sobriety
After my father’s passing, I moved to Fox Lake, IL, with my grandparents, to begin navigating my teenage years. Around age 13, I had gotten drunk for the first time, and that euphoria was the first time in years that I had gotten to feel good and care-free. This marked the beginning of my addiction for the next upcoming years which only continuously progressed and evolved into stronger substances. I dropped out of high school half-way through freshman year, and continued down a rocky path.
At age 18, I thought maybe the people I surround myself with were the cause of my bad behaviors, and so I decided to move to CA to start fresh. I lived a frugal hippie lifestyle in an old 1982 RV in L.A., whilst working in restaurants, and enjoying the new laws of medicinal marijuana use.Â
Within six months, I faced the same struggles I tried to run away from in IL but now in CA. I began to realize that maybe it wasn’t the ‘other people’ that was the problem, but rather I, myself, was the problem.
Living in L.A. for about a year and a half, I faced escalating addiction amid my grandma’s cancer diagnosis and subsequent passing in Illinois. I returned home to support my grandfather and committed to sobriety, attending my first 12-step meeting at age 21. This decision reshaped my entire life, leading me toward the mental, emotional, physical, and material wealth that I possess today.
A Fresh Start: Embracing Responsibility and HVAC
Sobriety began to open new doors for me and forced me to take responsibility for my life for the first time. After attending countless meetings and staying sober, I started in the HVAC industry in Racine, WI. Flash forward eight years of a hard work ethic and continued recovery, here I am today. I can definitely relate to hopelessness, depression, addiction issues, anxiety, and the insanity of having the same issues over and over.
Continuing the life long journey of recovery whilst focusing on three main principles of Honesty, Open-Mindedness, and Willingness, has restored my hope, health, and manageability of life. Today, there is no issue that I can’t figure out how to solve or get through. If I could make a leap of faith and choose to make the tough decisions needed today for the creation of a better future, so can anyone else!
Of course there are still times in life today, that I feel some of the same old emotions, but now there is always solutions in any given situation as long as I continue to follow those 3 principles.
I share my journey because many who meet me now may not realize the hurdles I’ve overcome. For me, this business isn’t just about profit; it’s about serving others and giving back to the world, advocating for sobriety, health, and attempting to inspire those who are facing their own personal challenges.
I’ve always been an open book. If you’ve taken the time to read this and call me for a service, don’t be shy to share any details of similar experiences you’ve had. I’d love to hear them, or feel free to ask me any questions, whether personal or business-related.
